Ann’s surgery lasted about 3.5 hours. They took her right kidney so the surgeons had to work around her liver. The surgeon reported no problems.
Seeing her now in her room, the magnitude of what she has been through is a bit overwhelming to me. She seems very damaged. I do not have a lot of life experience with hospitals but this seems way more difficult than childbirth. She can speak a little in a whisper and moves her arm slowly. She cannot drink water but must instead swab her mouth with moist sponges on a stick.
I was originally going to say that she is resting in her room – but that is not accurate. Trying to get by minute by minute would be a better description at this point in time.
This is the hardest part. Everything should be a lot easier after this. And it is perfectly normal to be out of it after surgery and anaesthesia. The nurses will make sure she is comfortable and not in too much pain. Right now she needs all the sleep she can get.
Sending you all lots of love and blessings and positive vibes!
Recovery is different for every person and the trauma of the surgery that sheâs been through may take more time than expected for her to get back to a new normal, as the effects of the anesthesia wear off you should be able to see noticeable improvement.
May God bless you and Leslie with a speedy recovery.
David & I are praying for you & Brad and Les & Scott . Annie we admire your courage! Love you girl.
Thanks for the detailed updates. Brad. Your contribution to this process is very much appreciated by those of us that live far away. Please let Annie know I’ve never been as proud of one of “my girls” as I am of her. Her compassion and generosity are amazing. I will keep sending prayers up for both of the girls and hope they have speedy and uncomplicated recoveries.
Thanks Brad for your updates as we are certainly all thinking about Annie and Leslie. The day of surgery and the day after are usually tough and people look pretty bad right after surgery. The fact that she is now up and walking around already is fabulous. I think you will see a big improvement by day 3–hang in there!
