A quick update on the first night in the hospital.
- Although any hosital stay tends to be disruptive to sleep, Ann and I did get about 3 sleep sessions in during the night. Leslie came for a visit and said she got none, so we feel fortunate.
- Ann got a lot of pain medication up to about 3:30 am which helped her sleep but probably made her itchy. She throttled back and feels less groggy now. She is transitioning to oral medication this morning.
- Ann walked 3 more times last night using a bit of aid. She is a big fan of getting going as it is her nature, plus helps clear surgical gas.
- Her catheter was just removed and she has ordered greek yogurt for her first regular meal. Yogurt is her favorite back home too so it is another step towards normalcy.
So overall a lot of progress has been made. I got to read Ann all the web comments this morning and she was delighted. Thank you all for your support.
There are several clinical milestones we are hoping for today which will dictate when Ann can leave the hospital. I will post a progress note about noon.

Looking good! Yeah!
Keep up the positive spirit Annie. You are making great progress! Hopefully they will need to monitor you less often so you can get more sleep tonight! Hang in there!
Who had surgery? This recent photo looks like business as usual with the yogurt in hand.
Tell Ann everyone in the office is asking about her and sending best wishes. If not flowers,
how about plants or fruit? Thinking of you both.

You look to be in great spirits! I can hardly wait to have you back!
Looks like you came thru operation good. Glad it is over because I was concerned. Proud of you for having courage to do it. If your pictures are any indication you are doing well.
